Mwalimu Mbilizi’s classroom

Mbilizi is the man in white shirt in the center. He currently have 12 students in his classroom.

Mbilizi Kalammad-Kdin is a young refugee from Democratic Republic of Congo. He is a social worker, and he has been teaching students at the camp since January 2021. He started with only one student, teaching him English; and he saw that more people wanted to learn.

“I feel so proud when I see that person (his first student) and how they are improving and achieving in their lives and that’s what makes me carry on teaching them” , Mwalimu Mbilizi said. Then, he decided to teach to more people, because he thought since everyone in the camp is from different countries and speak different languages; it would be useful to teach them a common language for easier communication. So, he started to teach them English pole pole or slowly. His aim for his students is that they are able to have a good life and get a job.

However, he is facing problems in his endeavors. The main obstacle is the facilities and materials, his classroom is not big enough for a large student body, and not only that he has scarce materials, obstructing the learning experience of the refugees.

Mwalimu Mbilizi is hoping to extend his courses to business and leadership skills, and also he would like to enlarge his student population. Join us in the good cause, together we help refugees,
